Stone chips!

I was washing my car the other day and noticed a couple small stone chips right on the edge of the hood where it meets up with the front bumper. Has anyone else had the same issue? And if there are any good avenues to take to fix it.

Yeah. Common to most cars.

I have a black car - so I use turtle wax 'black' wax. It minimizes the "white spots" from the chips.

Or budget a hood/front end paint job every few years.

Lastly, once freshly painted - consider a '3M[tm] clear bra" to protect. I had that on my 350Z (that low hood line would catch anything) and it worked great. BUT even that must be replaced every five years. If you don't it fades/gets scratched & bonds to the paint and makes you repaint anyway [sigh]...

Yeah i was thinking about getting that 3M clear bra after i touched up the chips. Also I was looking at maybe doing a clear plasti dip then some glossifier over it. not sure if thatll do the same but i know my front grille has held up well to stone chips. The plasti dip is still in perfect shape. Thanks for the reply!

If you get some chips down to the steel and want to keep it under control until you get a repaint or whatever, find Muriatic Acid, its an etching solution and mix it 4:1 water to acid. Just dab a little on a rusty spot and it will completely eat away any oxidized metal and leave your paint just fine (little dab on the rusty spot only). Dab it dry and then cover it up with a paint pen or whatever you choose.

Obviously this isn't a permanent solution, however it will help with the rust spreading.
