Third brake light no longer working
I was rear ended and the center brake light was damaged. I bought a new one, LED just like the one it came with and when I plugged it in it wouldnt respond. I was thinking about running a tap from one of the brake lights in the body but there are 3 wires going into the brake light. One I know is ground, it is black (I dont have a multimeter but think i will buy one or a fuse checker at least).
Im getting ahead of myself. Does the LED center light require a controller or any other voltage regulator or could I just splice it into the tail lights?

Solved!
There was no power at the socket so i ran to wal mart and bought a cheap 10$ cuttable red LED strip, spliced it to the active brake/tail light that was 11.8V when the pedal was depressed. I had to break the housing a little to slide the LED strip in but it was already broken from the guy rear ending me.
Prolly not DoT approved, but itll pass inspection now!
