you need to pull the steering wheel off again and try to center it. dont forget to unplug SRS before you start pulling stuff.

ive tried this numerous times, it seems like the grooves that fit the wheel into the steering rod are either too much to the left or right.

i just did the swap today thanks to this guide!!! is the hub of the evo 9 steering wheel much smaller or something? because when i look sideways through the column i'm seeing a large gap. is that normal or was i suppose to hammer the steering wheel into the gear? thanks!

Got mine in the other day with no problem. I picked up the extended allen socket thing for $15 from Harbor Freight. No need to cut the cruise control plug - I just hid it in the steering column.

Sorry to bump an old thread but i tried my friend's old evo 8 steering on my 06 oz and it doesn't fit...the 04-06 oz shaft is not the same as the 02-03. The 06 has a bolt behind the air bag on the steering and has no groove to lock the evo steering in place with the bolt on the evo steering. If someone has done this swap on a 04-06 let me know how you did it because it didn't work for me.
