Breaking through the Firewall

I've noticed that there are a couple locations to get through the firewall to run wires. But i figured i'd make a list of the locations i've noticed to help the others who want to run wires but don't want to drill through the wall. If you guys know of any places post up, it'll help everyone out.
I own a MT 2004 Ralliart FYI...

- Huge Grommet to the left behind the glove box
- Driverside door Grommet on the door jamb under the hinge (externally run wires under fender?
- Passengerside door grommet on the door jamb under the hinge (externally run wires under fender

It is and always will be my solid opinion that any wires running through the doorjamb better be going into the door. If you cant find a factory grommet, drill a hole in the firewall and use a new grommet. Sorry, it's just the way I have been brainwashed to install.

It's not really in the doorjamb, it's between the rear part of the fender and the passenger cabin of the car. You can't get to it by opening the door, you have to take off the plastic wheel well liner. It comes out inside the car way up above and to the left of the clutch pedal linkage.

Had he been talking about the grommet that the wires going to the door go through, I'd agree with you that you should only run through there if you're going to the door.

Take the bumper off, then the fender.. haha It's a *****. BUT if you're feeding through the grommet behind the fender you can always go through the wheel well behind the plastics... MUCH easier all you needa do it jack up the car and take the wheel off.

Which grommet did you use? The one on the passenger side of the wall?

I used the one on the driver's side that goes behind the fender. You don't have to take the freakin' fender off though. Just pull back the fender liner and you'll be able to see the grommet. Reaching it is a different story, but you should be able to run the wire through from the inside enough to grab hold of it though the fender liner and pull it. There's a space right behind the headlight that feeds into the engine bay where the wire will come out. The hardest part is getting the wire through the grommet and keeping the grommet in the hole/putting it back in.

x2

CUrrently ive got my power wirre going through the huge grommet in the firewall (hard to miss it!) .... but am going to rewire it with 2guage (currently it's 4g) and wire it through the inner guard. It'll look neater cos it's easier to hide the wire, and you dont have to take off the wheel to get to it (ive done it this way in a few cars before).
