Thumbs up Audio Upgrades

Hello I am looking to add a subwoofer to my ralliart. Not sure what to do. Should I buy from the dealership the stock subwoofer and hook that up or buy from a car audio place a custom box and subwoofer to fit in the designed side rear of the trunk. The dealership says its around $550 for sub and box but if I go to the nearest car audio place they say its gonna be around the same price. Those that have the stock subwoofer.... do you like it? I found this enclosure on ebay, they said its to fit the EVO but it should be ok for the Ralliart....... kind of iffy on it because I want it to fit perfectly.

I have 2 amps already from my previous car. I would like the subwoofer to fit in the designed spot for it. Let me know what you all think and what you have for your audio. Thanks!

Personally if u wanted to go with a 10" sub, I would probably just get the stock enclosure and buy a better sub. I had the RF system in my GTS and it was good enough for me but all my buddies system thumped way more then mine(I'm not too big on sound systems). Some 12's and a custom box would probably be a better bet but all depends on what u are looking for.

I highly doubt that enclosure will fit, seeing as how the trunk on the X is a bit different.

my system consists of 2 Alpine SWR-1042d subs mounted in an enormous vented box, running through an alpine PDX-1.600 mono block, Alpine SPR-17C for the rear doors and SPR-17S for the front doors, all through a PDX-4.100 4-channel amp. And my head unit is a Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT. Total, my system ran me about $4k, Just need to add satellite radio, steering wheel controls interface, and have some custom fiberglass work done in the trunk, and it will be perfect. Honestly, if you're not looking to spend a lot, you're probably not gonna get anything good, especially a custom enclosure or even the OEM one.

On that note, as far as the size of your subs go, 10s have a tighter punch (Provided you have an amp with enough power to drive whatever you're running), the OEM Fosgate sub isn't meant to hit hard, it's just to give you a more full sound.

So 10s are more for rock, metal etc. But if you listen to rap, hip-hop, R&B, techno, etc, I'd go with 12s or 15s

I'd go with 12s there the best in terms of play anything on them but if u really want a perfect box u can fiberglass one ur self its not hard at all just time consumeing and were it would cost u half a grand from an audio place you could do it for 50 bucks just pick out the subs u want and see what size enclosure you need and go from there... There are tons of sites on line that will show u step by step how to fiberglass
