Question Vis Carbon Fiber Hood

Well, I would first like to start of by saying hey to all of the members out there. Even though this may be my first post on this message board, I have been reading all of your post and and replies and learned a great deal about this car. But anyways, today, we had a bad wind storm where we live. So here I am, minding my own business and all of the sudden drops this branch out of a tree. Since I am going about 40 MPH there was no way for me to see it. Well, upon further inspection, I look at my hood a realize that there are many scratches but no dents on the hood. So , immediately I go home and start looking for new hoods online(carbon fiber). I immedeatly go to E-Bay Motors. com and find a great looking VIS CF hood replacement for $310 plus shipping. But, I had a few questions: 1) Do you need hood pins?) 2)Are there pre-drilled holes for the windshield washers?) 3) how is the fitment for this hood on a US lancer OZ Ed.(people on this board that have or had one in the past)? BTW, sorry for the long post, i promise my post from here on out won't be as long lol

there are predrilled holes for windsheild wipers but i think you might have to do some alterations for them to fit... but the fitment on the car is really good... i have no complaints... lol i dont have any hood pins and i'm doin ok....

need hood-pins = no. but VIS recommends it. I've been 130+ in my car with no issues.

there are pre-drilled holes for the windshield washer nozzles, but my stock ones wouldn't fit. with a dremel and a couple minutes they would fit .. I'm too lazy so I just have 2 holes in my hood where those should go. im gonna try and find new ones which WILL fit.

fitment of my hood (oem style) is great. no problems. just make sure you line it upstraight and its good to go.

One note is that the vis hood comes with a oem style, CF grille. you can remove it .. but to fit a stock grille, you need to drill out the holes just a little bit.

edit: make sure you check shippin costs before buying a hood from ebay.

Just for reaffirmation:

Hood pins are not needed because the Vis hood uses the stock latch. I'm getting some both for show purposes and for extra safety. There's a thread on how someone's Accolade hood flew off! Granted that's a completely different hood design and manufacturer altogether; just keep in mind that a cf hood is a ton lighter than stock and you never know what could happen.

My hood had no problems with using the stock washer nozzles but the holes had been previously redrilled to accomodate them. My roommate got some of those led washers and those fit in just fine, so that's another route you can take if you don't want to drill the hood.

VIS recommends using hood pins. it doesnt matter if its fiberglass or carbon fiber, they should be used. we put a vis hood on my buddy's accord and at high speed it started to flex a little. we installed hood pins and problem solved. vis, accolade, and import trenz use the stock hood latch. it really dosent matter because its light weight material, and not as strong as a stock hood. so yes it can/will eventually break. hood pins are a good idea.
