Angel Eyes Idea
Angel Eyes Idea
Ok, so this is my first post on this forum, but I have done a great deal of searching through and reading posts. This idea seems too obvious to not have been thought of but I can't find any posts dealing with it directly...
BMW angel eyes run off of the same 12v power as everything else in a car, unless there is some special transformer installed that I am unaware of. This means that in theory it shouldn't be particularly difficult to run a wire from a vacant fuse in the box to the headlights (same as for fog lights, basically), and put the BMW angel eyes either inside the cylindrical turn signal housing (behind the lens) or if that would refract too much going through the lens, then perhaps mounted immediately on the outside of the lens itself. Then installing a switch is a snap and you have yourself angel eyes from a Beamer on your lancer.
The only problem outside of electrical issues I can see would be too much reflection within the rest of the light housing, which if you have your lights blacked out as many people do, wouldnt' be an issue. Clearly, more fine tuning is needed but I dont feel like trying to get into more detail (mounting, drilling, etc) without first seeing whether this has been deemed impossible already and I was simply unable to find it.

if anything, i would probably tap into the parking lights, but this is a lot of work. if you really want the angel eyes, sigh just buy an aftermarket set that fits your car. i would pass on it personally though.
oh btw, welcome to evolutionm.net, and what kind of car is this for anyway?
i mean i know lancer, but some lancers have diff lights than others.

^unfortunately aftermarket support isnt quite there yet as a lot of kids havent bought the lancer(and i pray for the day that not every kid does)...so there none available for the lancer....
o.k. here is what i would do if i had a lancer and wanted really cool lights. i would go and buy an hid kit from hidexpress.com. i have had hid's in my civic, s-10, and now my g-friends accord. you need to have a clear lens though, the early lancers had a light scatterer that makes hid's too bright. that is why i had to get a clear headlight for my s-1o. maybe procarparts.com might have diff lights.

see!, personally i think that looks much better than angel eyes. There is a diff between jdm cool and taiwanese rice! ( when i say that i mean that most ricey parts are made in taiwan, not hating on taiwanese people).

Oh god please no. Then everyone would buy them and the guys that take the time and tap in to there creative side (or get hlep) will no longer look origional.
I like the fact that there isn't too much out there for the Lancer. It makes it more fun.
If I wanted to be able to p/u aftermarket car parts everywhere including 7-11 I would have just bought a Civic.
