Red w/ grill painted?

Hey, I couldn't find any in the registry, but has anyone tried painting the stock grill black on a Rio Red lancer? I would like to see a pic before I try it, though I can't see how it could look worse than it does stock...

yeah, it may look cheap, it is cheap which is why I'm thinking about it... On the other hand, since everyone replaces the grill anyway, in the unlikely event that it does somehow look worse, i'm sure there are many cheap stock grills floating around. If I dont like it, I'll either get another or get an aftermarket one.
I would really love to see some pics here... even if you have a different color car, it would be useful to see a few pics of the blacked out stock on something other than a black car.

by the way... I also forgot to ask whether you who have done this painted the slats in the middle (black from factory) the same black color as the chrome to match, or whether you taped over these and left them the stock color?

I have a blue 02 ES with a black grill (where it is chrome) and blue to match the car fins (where it was black). look in my signature under the burnout post.

Well I painted it, will get pics up soon.... It wasn't too difficult and I think looks awesome thanks for the pics. Also, I'm wondering whether most of the people who have done this have painted the fins as well as the chrome part. I chose not to paint the fins and I think it looks much better with the matte black on that part and the gloss black on the chrome part
