Dyno Numbers

Finally got the bear Dyno'd. Threw down 99 HP and 110 TQ with my only mod being a S-AFC running 15% correction. That was my first run then I turned the S-AFC off and lost 2 HP then closed my stock air box and lost another 1 HP. So now I have proven that opening your stock air box gains 1 HP...kinda cool. Meanwhile my torque stayed the same. Funny as it is I Dyno'd with my wet blizzaks...I wonder if I do it again in summer with some falkens will I gain HP because maybe the tires are spinning?

Crazy. If turning the S-AFC off led to a 97hp number, I'm confused. A stock Lancer should put down 88hp on a Mustang. Your stock Lancer had more HP than my modded one did. Very strange.

I was not suprised with my numbers. The dyno was not slowing down as fast as they would like so they recalibrated the whole dyno and gave me another run and came out the same. I think I numbers are very accurate.

I'm not doubting you at all, dude.

I was just commenting on how it's odd that your numbers are higher than one would expect. Mustang read 15% lower than Dynojet. So the 120hp would break down to 103whp on a Dynojet dyno. Hence, Lancers should put down 88whp on a Mustang.

So your numbers are A) higher than I'd expect and B) higher than mine (you'll find a Mustang dyno graph in my registry).

That's all I'm saying. No offense intended.

That's funny blacksheep as when I posted mine everyone said "Mustang dynos read too high compared to Dynojets"

Where are you all getting this info from?

Good job posting the dyno. Once I get a test pipe I'll dyno with my RRM stage 1 kit, also getting some better weather would help things out too. Right now the cat is choking the whole system and I can't get the full amount of boost out of the system, not to mention spool time.

I didn't think tires would make a difference on a dyno? I guess it might make sense in that you're transferring power to drums via frictional forces. Snow tires have a very soft outer compound, however, so they should have a pretty high coefficient of friction compared to a harder all-season.

Why would they get different numbers? How do they operate differently from one another to generate different numbers and how do you know which one is accurate?

Well, according to my friend, the Mustangs are more accurate. He claims that they have to be accurate because the government uses Mustang products for testing. And generally speaking, from both his and my history, cars that are dynoed on Mustangs generally show 15% higher on other dynos.

But that's just what I was told...

Not really the technical information I was looking for, but I guess your friend would have that information. Maybe the internet does as well. Time for some good old fashioned net research.
