Im all about elbow grease. Use Meguiars 3 step paint cleaning system if your ride starts to look dull. I used it once and have never regreted it.

Kbadboy, you hit it right on; electric buffers can cause swirls, and if one is not careful,it can burn through the paint.

it will only burn if you don't get a random orbital buffer, and instead you pick up a polisher.

for the weekend waxers, just pick up a cheapy random orbital buffer. they don't spin fast enough to burn and i've never had problems with swirl marks with them
