Question Anybody put larger wheels on their ES?

I have a 02 Lancer ES with 14" wheels (with hubcaps - yuck) and 185/65-14 tires. I'm thinking of upgrading to the OZ size of 195/60-15, but that size is about 3/4 of an inch taller of a tire and I'm wondering:

A) how much it will throw off the speedometer and

B) how it looks on the car because aftermarket wheels are 6.5" in width with a 40mm offset whereas stock OZ wheels are only 6" in width and have an offset of 40mm.

by my calculations, this will make the aftermarket wheels stick out about 1/2" farther than stock & I just wanna know what it looks like.

Thanks guys.

Just go with 17" wheels and 205/40/17 tires. There's virtually no difference in overall size compared to stock, so your speedo should read the same.

Yea, I thought about that, but in getting old (29) and I don't want the harsh ride.

So I just wanna go with some touring tires & getsome nice rims, like the Konig heliums.

I know that 195/55-15 is the same diameter, but it seems only performance tires are avail in that size, so I was thinking about 195/60-15...........

at least get some 16" wheels and go with 205/50/16 rated tires . . . the ride should be good and not harsh at all . . .

that's true. The stock 14's are pretty close already. Do they rub at all? was the speed-o the same?

rubbing is bad.
What tire size you have?

I'm just leaving the suspension alone. Too tricky for me.

Damn, that's got me kinna scared. I'm gonna run 205/40/17s and go with Tein S-Tech springs. Haven't heard too many people that had rubbing problems with 17s.
