HID? worth it?
i am thinking about spending around $500 to get a REAL HID kit
its philips convertor+philips 6000k bulbs...
wondering do u guys think its good? or someone can find a better deal?
these are the REAL HID kit..im not talkinga bout those xenon, HID-alike bubls that u get em for about $25-$60
after i convert our lancer into a HID light...im pretty sure we will loose our HIGH beam.. ? since we have high/low beam in one blub, and hid dont have that...
have anyone got HID in their lancer so that i can make sure this info is correct?
im pretty sure im getting it tho..just once i got the money..hopefully by the end of Feb.

yah, gotta love HID!! check eBay..unless you have to go name brand...ive seen sum HID KITS for a dollar! sounds like a scam..but they have a pic of the entire kit..i was thinking about buyin it..
but its not philips or hella or anything like that.. but it is the whole kit. and you do lose your high beams.. could you imagine high beams on a high intensity discharge bulb?!! youd be blind!!!

You're right that you lose your highbeam when converting to HID. God knows you won't need it though.
And $500 sounds about right for a quality HID conversion kit, which Phillips definitely is. I've seen prices go from around $450 - $600.

i heard there are some better kits where you can keep your high beams, and you still need them, they are for lighting a diffrent part of a road not for making it brighter, all the cars with stock hids still have high beams.

but yea..their high beams are regular helogons...not HIDs..and since our lancer use 9007 which is low beam+high beam together
if its on the other car..they have seperate bulbs..one for high beam and one for low beam(which stock HID only goes here)
so when they use high beam..they are acturally yellowish helogons bulb!

yes, i wanna do HIDs too....i think for a generic kit ur gonna pay 400 bux but that phillips for 500 isn't bad.
i dont believe any HID kits have 2 filiments (sp?) therefore you'd need 2 bulbs to have a high beam. would be interesting if someone could make high beams where the blinker is now and maybe relocate another bulb (led?) somewhere else in the housing.
maybe someone wants to get a group buy together for HIDs....?

I had HID and after my experience with them I wasn't too thrilled with the color of mine...don't get 7500k...they say it's supposed to be really really blue..but it's more of a aqua green color, and make sure you get the kit for regular headlamps, and not projection headlamps....there is a difference between d2s and d2r hid bulbs..search for it...not exactly sure..but no matter what you WILL lose high beams..they only make the low beam/high beam for like H1, and a few other bulbs...not 9007 like ours..the color i would recommend would be 9000k if you can find it...if not go with 6000k..and make sure you get good ballasts, either phillips or hella. But all in all the $400 + money spent is better off o somethin else till you get PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS...they mke the color appearance and light output a lot better..hope this helps people who are thinkin abut buyin HID kits
I found HID Plus HID Conversion Kit that's 9000k (Purple White) for 529.95

first of all no high beams may cost you an inspection.
Get the CATZ high/low 4500K kit
you'd get the best color and both high and low beams
you can get it for <$600
That's the way i'd go ( and will one day)
