Custom Painted Headlights ...anyone think THIS is a good idea>>

Anyone think this is a good idea? You know the clear lens that goes over the blinker - most ppl tint those, or leave them clear and snap them back in- what if you left it out? I left it out after painting them the other day, and look at what you get..pretty cool huh? I just dont know how safe it is for the BULB inside while driving? ANyone have any idea??? And do you preheat the oven for 275 degrees? or 475? i totally forgot when i did it the first time. was last year sometime.

first of all, pre-heat to 275. second, I think it looks nice, but I wonder about what it will look like to other drivers (including cops) when it lights up. In other words, doesn't the lens have a legal purpose????? Please don't flame, I just assumed that to be the case. third, don't leave that bulb on the ground! If it got any oils or garbage on it, you're going to be buying a new bulb soon.

Hey, yeah cops here don't really worry about illegal mods and stuff - they don't really care. lol. but i DO get what you're saying. They serve SOME purpose. it might be to lower the intensity of the bulb, or simply to protect it from the heat - i am still not quite sure. only one way to test it - put it on i guess. haha. I'm just worried about the paint. i sanded it, primed it, and layed on the BBQ grill paint. so i should be good. but i've got black headlights that i bought on my car NOW, im doing this, cause i f*cked up my aim on the right headlight, so i need to probably get them both off.
