hey so u were told that u had to roll ur fender to fit the 18s?

cuz i was just about to get 18's and wasn't sure if i should just stick to 17's. although, i did ask the mitsubishi dealer guys if 18s are good without any modifications. they told me 17's are big, but 18's would be pushing it, i guess no one tried it in my neighborhood.

let me know man once put on ur 18s.

 

ok for the 3rd time..i have my 18's on already.....they rub a little with my tein coilovers. if i was at a stock ride height, they wouln't rub. i wasn't told i need to roll the fenders, when i heard the rubbing i knew it was necessary. if u want 18's, go with 40 tires and stock ride height or if u can, go 35s and some springs or whatever u wanna lower it with. the only reason i want to roll my fenders is so i can slam the car and not rub anything.

I think RobertK or something like that has 18 and no rub, lowered.

In the thread everybody gives their wheel/tire/spring combo and if they rub.

Perosnally I'll go with 18s.. and if I could I'd do 19 as the body-kit.com lancer, but it's too big for our roads :-/

ok....my 18's only rub when im turning...the point of this thread is about fender rolling and how it's done...not on tire rub or spring/tire sizes. thanks

 

Actually, I had Pirelli 225s on before the new 215 NITTOs, and they rolled my fenders for me!

No rubbing at all now.

 

I've got 205/40/17's and they rub when turning to full lock in parking lots, when hitting bumps (or just changes in the road surface), and when corning hard at the bottom of an incline at speed. The suspension shop rolled the back and its not as bad now , but the front they could only suggest putting a stopper in the shocks or something of that nature.
Appears to be only rubbing the very edges of the tyre, and its against plastic only (its becomming less of a problem as it seems the plastic is being worn away).

Maybe its best just to leave it if its not happening too much

 

It's surprising.. because 205/40/17 is a verry thin tire and 17 isn't that big.

did they roll the fender completly inside or noly a little? Because if they roll it completly against the fender, you shouldn't have any rub.

Just a little I believe (they didnt charge me anything to do it) , the rears are much better after they did that (and another 2000kms). The fronts are doing it about half as much as they use to (with no changes)

 

Sounds like more of a hassle than its worth.

but my company is downsizing about 15-20% of their employees so I haven't done anything in a while... keeping a lil back just incase.

215/35/18s they rubbed a lil on the passenger front side when I first got them. but after alignment no rub.

I have been thinking aobut either the wide body or rollin the finders too. I dont' want to slam it... I just like large rims.

I took off the inside plastic when I put on my street glows, there is a bit of room up there.

If you're in Dallas and want it done, call Sun Auto body. Talk to martin, they do great work, and the suspension guys are gods.

Yeah... Just a comment... I only see fender rollings on Lowrider Trucks..... And usually, import rides dont get that kind of modifications.... Unless your probably into real drag racing....

 

i've seen plenty of imports with rolled fenders. when you drop ur car to where the tire tucks under the fender, ur gonna need to get it rolled.
