Help with hood

Has anyone put on an aftermarket hood by themselves, or even a OEM hood? Is it difficult. Some pointers would be nice. Thanks

Its not that hard...

I havent put one on my lancer...but had to put one on my mustang after i had wrecked it.

Shouldnt really be hard...just get someone to help you and dont tighten the bolts all the way down till youre sure yuo have it lined up straight

I heard that if you go with a lightweight aftermarket hood, you need hood-pins to hold it down (for saftey). Is that true?

it's easy, but not that easy!

I changed mine on my integra also when I crashed the front end.

Alone it will be hard, with someone to help it's not bad, one to align everything (make sure the gap on each side is ok) then you tighten a little, check bak alignment, tighten a little more.

And as for wheels you tighten all bolts at the "same" time not one byt one.

From the accounts I've read it's a good idea. The latch alone may be enough to keep the hood from flying up, but according to a couple accounts I've read it will begin to flap and make noise at high speeds especially. If nothing else it's about 20 bucks for some piece of mind and to avoid an annoying noise.

Yes, hood pins are the greates thing since sliced bread

First hand experience:... spend 350 on fiber hood with no pins... hit 100 on the bypass...hood breaks in half across top of windsheild (convertible).....spend 350 on fiber hood AGAIN, buy hood pins this time...much better result

If you go with hood pins keep in mind that if dont do the locking kind then people can get under your hood in under 5 seconds all the need to do is flip the latchs up. To me that wasnt really a problem I dont live in a bad area but it could work against you.

Where could one find a light hood with an air scoop on it? Almost like the on in the apex kit.

If you go lightwieght or CF you'll need the pins...keep your stock latch though for security reasons. If your looking for a hood, all there is now are the CF hoods and the ones from Bodykit.com. I'm thinking about modifying my cf hood, but haven't had the ***** to yet...
