Engine Paint

Hey all,
Any1 know of a good brand of engine paint? maybe in the color of blue?

You are going to need a paint that can withstand high temps, of course, I think powder coat won't work for that. Probably be a good idea to research it, or maybe check with any local paint shops or engine shops to see what info they might have

why would powder coating not work??? What do u think RRM uses on all of there valve covers people buy...

Well, I recently worked with some parts that were powder coated and the coat peeled back and flaked off were there was heat being applied. I'm certainly not a pro with coating, just what I've seen with my own eye's.

Places like autozone and pep boys sell engine paint and it comes in a lot of colors. so just check out a few auto shops and u should be able to find some. i got mine at a place called Advanced Auto Parts.

i did my engine bay.. the pain you need is called Duplicolor Metalcast.. its awesome.. and works GREAT!

yeah you can get engine paint anywhere...you prolly saw the paint chip/peel b/c there werent enough coats or too many coats. I am going to paint my valve cover this week so i should have some pics by this weekend...Lots of people have painted valve covers and misc. engine componants so you can check em.

One note about powdercoating, be sure that your shop is using powder that can handle the engine heat. Thats probably why you may have expienced flaking and peeling.

But powder is the way to go.
