Trunk Plug Suggestions ?

Ok so i got my Evo VIII spoiler and the install was a snap. Rally wing came off, Evo wing went on. Now ive got the dreaded hole in the middle of my trunk. Ive read a good half a dozen threads after searching and heard the same problem over and over and the same answer over and over "either weld and repaint or plug it" . . . ok ill plug it no problem. But the question is what can you plug it with? Does anyone have a good suggestion for something that will fit the hole well and wont look like crap ?

open up your trunk and look on the underside of it. you should see a small plug, like dime sized, kinda looks like an inverted nipple. That plug is the perfect size to fit that hole. kinda hard to explain in words but if search enough on the underside you'll find it.

wow i dont know what twisty is talking about but im super excited to look for it when i get home.
other then that, I went to home Depot and in the hardware section where they sell screws I found a rubber stopper that was just about the right size. I'd rather a more permanent solution but I was sick of worring about water getting in and not being able to wash my car so this will work for now.

I'd definitely get it welded shut and repainted. You can plug it temporarily, but it will look like crap. It won't cost that much to have a body shop weld and paint it. It will be worth it in the long run.

^^^^ So right !! It will look will crap because that's what I had to do for the longest time. Then went to a body shop and had them spot weld a simple piece of metal under the hole. They putty'd it up and re-painted the lid; no big deal and looks hella clean...

how much have you guys found youre paying for the weld and repaint ? Right now ive done a temp fix, i had a shop that does all weather auto graphics make me up a sheet of black 3/4 inch dots. I got one on the inside and one on the outside. Its waterproof and close enough to the surface that its not THAT noticeable.

On a black car it won't look as bad... Saw a wingless Eclipse GST with vinyl black painted stickers over the holes. He said it sealed tight and doesn't look "too bad"...

yeh, I was looking into it as well. I bought a evo VII wing then decided against painting that and trunk because the cost is so close to just buying a CF trunk and cerious CF evo VIII wing.... IM just going cf end of this month.

I think it would be around $200 for the welding and repainting of the trunk!?! that sound right?

I'm not sure what the average price would be. I had a friend of mine who works for a body shop fill my holes so I paid next to nothing. Now I have a CF trunk anyway.
