I need a headlight opinion
I need a headlight opinion
Hey guys, i need an opinion here.
Over spring break I plan to blacken out my headlights.
I've seen some people use metallic black paint and some flat black.
Some have painted the orange piece others, not.
So...I'd like some input about what to do
1) what type of black should i use?
2) what should i do with the amber piece (not the turn signal - the surfboard shaped piece)
Any and all input would be appriceated... I also plan to put eyelids on it at a later date.
Here's what it currently looks like. (stock)

I would use flat black on the headlights. If you can take the orange piece out all together, then that would be the way to go (i'm sure it's harder than it sounds). If you can't then i would just let it be and just paint the headlights.
First get rid on the amber piece and paint over it. I dont think that there is any use of that peice since we all have side markers on our Lancers.
Second, i would recommend u use 1 layer PRIMER FLAT BLACK and than 2 layers of GLOSS BLACK for better finish.
Dont forget to use the HOW-TO in the how-to sections, it will help you a lot. I used that and my lights turned out great but i didnt put them on cause they were damged from an accident.

Also make sure u atleast wait half an hour between each coar and dont hang the headlight to dry. Do not overspray one particular area otherwise the finish will not be as good as you expect.
i made the how to on it! https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=164475
i used similar color to my car, in flat paint.... well actually, i used gloss black the first time, but then it didnt look too good cuz the headlights were of darker color than my car, so i took'em apart and painted it again, and added angel eyes around the signals!
i say use metalic grey, go with ur car :-D and yea, paint over the amber piece will make ur lights look soo much better

thanks arnold, yea you were the one who inspired me to do it..have the how-to printed out.
never thought of body matching it tho. would it be too much with the eyelids i'm gonna put on?

blacking out the amber surfboard shape relectors is illegal because they are your side markers. You have to have an amber reflector on each side. Cant pass recon without it. But if i were you id paint it black cuz it would look cleaner...

He could just buy the reflectors that 02-03 Lancers have and place them on the front bumper.
