Love it when I get things in the Mail
Finally got this in the mail today:
I still need to get an AFC but I'll be able to see what kind of numbers I'm running with my high compression pistons. Looks like N1te is going to become a tuning expert since I'm already an engine expert.

Every single thing I've done to my car I have done myself. Partially because I'm broke most of the time, and partially because it's all a learning experience to me. I've taken Engines I in college, and am going onto Engines 2. After this course I could go qualify for this part of the ASE certification, but it's more for personal knowledge more than anything else, this won't be my career. Maybe not on other cars, but I've done my homework on this car with my own hard work and blood.
The weekend that I came up and met you and Greenpsycho was the same weekend my brother blew my engine. You let me come to your house, we went out to eat, you gave me a great deal on the rims and tires I'm driving on now. You're a standup guy, and like me, you're young. I'm sure you worked hard for the money to turbo your car, and you should be proud of how far you've gotten. I think highly of you and Greenpsycho, and I know why it's easy to jump to the conclusion that I don't know much because I can't even legally drink yet. Let this be a reminder to everyone though that ambition is greater than how old you are.
I've learned a lot more about this car than when you met me. I've pulled my cv axles out so I could lift the tranny out through the top. I've re-aligned my clutch and put the flywheel back on the engine. I did a victory dance when I dropped all the pistons in after compressing the rings. I've put my work in, and I've learned from it.

Are our bearings floating or locked? The number of piston wrings that are on a stock piston? Can you take off the cylinder head and replace the headgasket yourself? Know how to press out our wheel bearings? Have you changed the brake cylinders? Drained your power steering fluid? The differences between a 4g94 and a 4g93 cylinder head? I do.

Sweet, I've done all my own work too. Feels awsome when you do something to your car that costs other people tons of money...and it works great after. At school (wyotech) I rebuilt a 4g94. Pretty cool to do that to an engine I actually run. That thing is SO nicely built...just puney rods... We had a choice of a ton of different engines, and I booked for that Lancer engine!
I meet Frank/N1te when he was just starting out. At the time I knew more than him. I freely admit that now I call him for help with my car. He helped me put on my Intake manifold, coilovers, and headers. He now knows boat loads more than me and more than many other members here on the boards. And while I won't go so far as to say that he knows more than you Tyler, as I do not know the extent of what it is that you know, I think that his "expert" knowledge on the Lancer's engine is both tested and factual. And when I go for a custom turbo setup, I'm calling Frank. (In fact Frank I might be getting a promotion and I might be going Turbo sooner rather than later
)
Furthermore, as to how I know this, I was personally there for a few of the days that he had he had his engine out. I even got my hands dirty. (Not a whole lot Frank and Jotun did most of the work and I'm slow and ugly) He's done all he has said and is one of the most knowledgable people on this forum. He isn't content to stop here on this board either; he is continiously learning and more importantly sharing his knowledge.
Tyler, that was just a misinformed statement on your part. I know you didn't know any better. But everything Frank says is true. He is an expert on our engine... no doubt in my mind. And if you should ever need to have your pistons replaced or need to shoot the by and by about anything concerning the car call Frank... give him a few weeks and he'll be a master tuner.

PS- I'm going to predict that Frank will have Guru status someday. Not only that I predict that Frank will be a huge success at whatever he does... the kid has heart and a tremendous drive that I have never seen before. Hell, he's taking automotive classes for the hell of it!
