this is what happens when a friend looks under the hood and forgets to lock it up. you then procede to get onto the freeway on the way to the pool hall and as soon as you hit 55 all you hear is a loud crash and you cant see anything. thank god we're okay tho. i even researched on EvoM to make sure this didnt happen to me, which is why i got the hood pins in the first place!





and this was what my car looked like prior to the little mishap. got the windshield fixed for now, but now i need new hood hinges and a new hood. glass and velocity > low quality IT carbon hood.

 

damn, sorry to see that. exact same thing happened to me many years ago in my old eclipse.

 

might want to get some hood pins if you use the cf hood again good luck

 

Trust me, it happens... For as many times as us "car-guys" open and close our hoods, we're bound to forget something sometime.

Is this in only the cf? or can it happen to the fiberglass one aswell?

 

I've seen it happen to solid metal hoods off an old 1986 MR2, so it can happen to any car.

I'm glad you're okay bro, my friend almost rear ended someone when that happened because the guy in front of him hit the brakes at the same time and he couldn't see. Luckily your hood was alright, my friend's MR2 the hood wrapped up onto the roof and shattered the sun roof and f'ed the roof up as well.

Mistakes happen, but as long as you're alright its ok. Have any pictures of the hood?

 

damn .. same thing happened to me when i hit 50mph ... the thing is that my windshield didnt crack and i just got my cf hood painted. glad you ok!

::edit:: .. i see you have hood locks. those tend to spin causing them to unlock... did u have the stock latch on?

 

he didn't latch the hood, not like the latch broke. **** happens. just always make sure u close ur hood all the way.

 

yeah, i had hood pins already, but like everyone said, people forget things and mistakes happen. off to church, i'll get pics of the hood for everyone sometime today.

Same thing happened to my 03. Ironically, I was on my way to the body shop class to say hi to my old teacher. How is your roof?

 

hehe .. for some reason when it happened to me my roof got a small dented but my windshield was fine
