Right. You want me to believe he doesn't want it to look like an evo? So what's with all the evo parts? and who cares if he's going wingless, lots of wingless evos too.
Listen I complimented the choice on the bumper, it is easily the best looking option out there for Lancers IMO. But MUCH of that car is a blatant attempt to look like an evo, so don't say it isn't. My comment was meant in fun not in trying to be the "holier than thou" evo owner that just looks down on everyone else. Relax!

actually in the United States the Lancer was released as a 2002MY while the Lancer Evolution was released in the states as a 2003MY. Either way the Lancer is the first car. Then came the Evolution. It's like a 325i and the M3 back in the E30 series. The 325i came first and the M3 is based on that car but on crack. Evo is nothing but a lancer on steroids in every way possible.
You were correct in saying however that the Lancer was first... but the same car on steroids.
The Evo is not a Lancer on steroids. Different in all respects except for some interior and some msc. parts. They don't share the same engine, drive train, suspension... some of the things are swappable but your arguement falls flat on it's face.

E92 for those of you that don't talk Bimmer is the chassis code much like CT9A or whatever it is to describe MY (2007-Present) for the BMW 3 Series coupes (E90 for sedans). The new 335i (coupe) and the new E92 M3 share only the chassis I think and glass. Aside from that
335i - 3.0L I-6 twin turbo 300hp
E92 M3- 4.0L V8 420hp (estimated)
The 335i doesn't come with an SMG tranny as an option. They both come standard with 6spd MTs. I wasn't saying it's the same engine with a turbo slapped on. It's a whole different beast I know, but fundamentally it's based on the same g*dd@mn car, I mean it is a Lancer Evolution. Take the name literally and it's an evolution of the F-ing lancer. See what I mean? If I explained it wrong the first time I apologize but I was directing it at that arsehole from the Evo side of the tracks that thinks that we all want our lancers to look like evos.
The lancer just got $hitted on if you think about it. It's like a civic in many ways, both cars can't do $hit unless you turbo or swap. The only difference is that the civic doesn't have an awesome big brother that can put you in your place like the Evo can. Some naysayers will be like "oh the Si" blah blah, well the normal civic is a swap away from Si status, and you just can't swap a 4G63 into our cars and say oh evo!. I'm sure if they made an AWD turboed factory version of the civic the normal civic would also show a limited support from the aftermarket industry.
Most tuners are lazy anyways so why spend a $hit load on R&D on the Lancer when the Evolution already has a turbo and blah blah blah. I think it's more satisfying being able to build a car to kick big brothers *** than to buy one out the box, and yea I know big brother will always be able to beat him with upgrades and what not, but to get our little car to beat him well ha....... that's the dog having his day.
Anyways sorry Mark didn't mean to hijack your thread or anything. See you then.

im not gonna go thru with the explanation of the history of the evo...so lets get real, everything on an evo can theoretically be bolted on since the share the same chasis... sure not ALL bolt points are the same... but all it took mitsu engineers wasa little fabbing and a little fab work never hurt anyone!
