Redline tuning trunk lift kit install with lotta pics
I looked for a kit to lift my carbon fiber trunk for a long time. The carbon fiber trunks are to light to use tension bars so ive been holding the trunk up when I have to get into it. Plus the tension bars actually started warping the trunk. I heard of this kit and bought it. Figured id post my thoughts on it and some pics so all the other carbon fiber lancer guys could take advantage.
heres the link to this kit. (They also make a hood lift kit)

My thoughts:
This kit is great. I bought the cheaper $70 version. The more expensive version is all stainless.
It came fed-ex and was packaged good. everything was wrapped and packed into plastic/bubble wrap. It comes with 4 pages of color printed instructions with pictures put safely into a plastic bag.
The install went very easy. me and a friend from start to finish took less then 1 hour to get this thing done. The hardest part is lining up the bottom bracket so that the shock will fit. Even the hardest thing was easy. It pops the trunk enouph to grab it. then lift it up slowly to a point where the shocks grab it and pull it up slow. When it gets to the top it does speed up a tad but nothing to do damage. It holds the trunk up or even at a angle if wanted at a show or something. Heres some pics.
Im gonna write a how to on my car club site soon but the instructions that come with this kit are very well done. Great kit. I recommend it. any questions, ask away.

correct. The trunk is so light even with the wing the stock tenion bars started wraping the trunk so bad that it wouldnt shut anymore and was humped in the middle. luckily when I took them out it went back to normal. Then I bought this to fix my issue of no bars. This is deffinitely the (right way) to do this with a carbon trunk. awsome kit.

Nice kit, I have those for my hood and love it.
BTW, I had the same problem with it opening fast at the top. Turn the struts upside down so the piston is on the car side and the main tube is on the trunk lid. That is the way they are meant to mount and will slow down at full open instead of speed up. You're welcome
