From Chrome to Black... Grill

So I got off work early today and decided to come home and be productive by painting my front grill black. I came across a couple threads where some members painted their grills, gathered what I read from the threads asked a few questions and used a little common sense... it was as easy as I thought it would be and it came out just as I pictured....

Stock:

2-3 Coats Primer:

Black Paint 1st Coat:

Final Coat Drying:

Done and Installed:

I also have black Depo tails coming in and I'm thinking about blacking out my head lights myself.... doesn't seem to bad to DIY, although I found some on ebay for $160 shipped. I'm also going to paint my amber reflectors black with the same paint I used on the grill....idea taken from Cadiluva's build thread (thanks). I also have a scratch on my front bumper, as you can see in the last pic... It got scratched in a parking garage by a random. Does anyone recommend DIY... or should I just pay a professional to handle that type of job. I think since it's something delicate like my paint, I might just pay for it to get done right.

looks good
headlights are easy, save yourselve some money and do em yourself, you will feel proud of yourself as well

i would get that scratch done by a pro. i attempted to touch up a scratch like that by myself and it ended up looking worse.

I thought the same after I installed it...lol. I looked at it thinking I should of protected it better with a clear coat. Oh well, looks like it might be coming back off this weekend for a sand down, re-paint, and then clear coat.

I thought i wanted the matte look, and it looks good. But I think the clear coat would make it match better with my rims.

looks better then stock but I think a gloss black paint with clear would look even better. You dont need high heat paint for the grill.

on my grill i used a paint can that's used on bumpers, it should be right next to all the other paint, i don't think it really matters but it said this one will last longer under rainy/snowy weather conditions also i used flat black paint and not glossy, i think it really matches great (would buy same thing if i had to do it again).

Cadiluva actually recommended the type of black spray to use. First I used a gray automotive primer spray and then the High Temp spray thats normally used for BB- Q's, it has a matte finish look as you can tell. I like it though.
