I don't think you have to worry too much about the airbag functionality... that thing comes out at about 300+Km/hr and I've seen wrecked cars where the passenger bag went off and it almost always shatters the front windshield in the process. I don't think a bit of suede is gonna hold that puppy back
looks alright i suppose. I think it'd look better on the OZ though., it would blend in with the black interior, unlike the ES, it stands out too much and doesn't fit.
good work still
good work still
Newfound... not to sound like a dick or anything, but what do you do for a living?
The reason that the windshield breaks like that is because the top mount airbag systems reflect of off it to position themselves properly. They have to reach that position at the exact time needed, or they will do more harm than help. Chances are, yeah, it will rip the suede... but it will be slowed to the point that it does not get where it needs to be in time. And, there is still the possibility, depending on the quality of the suede, that the airbag will not actually be able to get through it and end up just lifting the top of the dash.
Either way, as was stated, it is illegal most everywhere and a huge safetly liability.
Ton's of research and developement go into creating an affective safety system. Chancing my life (or, even worse, somebody else's) for a piece of cloth, not a chance.
It is your car, you decide. I've said my peace, that's all I can do.
Oh yeah, for anybody questioning my abilities to make such an argument... I'm a professionally trained and certified automotive specialist, with an emphasis on upholstery and collision work.
