Im with amby, Teins cost way to much for what they are. Paying for the name. Thats why I ended up not going with them.

Ok I got an alignment done and the car is a million times better. Before, the camber and such was so bad the tires would squeal just turning onto the highway, now I have to push them to hear any noise. I really need new tires now, the old ones are literally bald.

tein and ksports are good, tein puts alot of r and d into every product they put on thte market, weather bottom or top of the line. tein is a trusted brand with excellent customer service.

k sports are also a good coilover, there costumer service is different from tein as is the performance of there products, don't get me wrong they make a good product but i think that the handling is worse than that of the tein, the spring rate is a bit much for the lancer, at race track speed the rear has excessive hop, u could always fix that with a progressive set up or a different spring rate.

i have had teins and a few other brands of coilover on my car and i have been pretty happy with them all. just my oponion.

I think the setup is the important thing. Don't you have megans? How are those?

As in setting the ride height, dampening and alignment up so as to get the most out of the coilovers.

I think quality is important, when Im trusting my handling and peoples lives to a performance part.

I like the K-Sports and the D2's 'cus their both really nice, however I would trust TEIN overall because of their reputation, and what I know of them thus-far.
I've never heard much (besides here) about the other brand Coilover systems.

heres whats happening, the two guys who purchased ksports, keep saying the "setup" matters beacuse they have more adjustibility for the price.

Tein owners say the name brand is key because we have the edge there.

bottom line: we both made individual decisions about the setup we are going with, lets be happy and get over it and move on.

edit: (insert childish banter)last thing: amby with your whole bit on how harness bars are not safe, im suprised to see you go with a less proven brand. i guess safety isnt as paramount to you as you had previously indicated.

Exactly, it all comes down to opinion. Hell there are people who claim those ebay sleeves are the best coilovers ever.
I fail to see how buying Ksports is in any way comparable to buying a product that is known to be a safety issue. While it is true that Ksport isn't as well known in the lancer community, it's popular and proven in other car circles. I've never heard of someone dying because of a suspension failure, I have heard of people dying when they tinker with their safety system (ie. airbags, seats, seatbelts, etc.).

I second that.
Regarding safety and R&D.. etc. Didn't you (Amby) give me crap, for having eBay seats, before I had the Sparcos?
I believe so. Thus, I am too surprised to see you riding w/ K-Sport's, versus TEIN's.
I've never heard of anyones seats pulling outta the floor, or breaking in half either. Not even in high-speed race-car collissions.

so u have never seen a bald weld bust and the hole assembly go nuts and someone dies as a result, i have a friend who had his one damper go a-wall and he was in a 5 car pile up on the freeway. SUSPENSION is not something to mess with. and no ones talking about airbags, i said harness bar.

I kinda agree with amby on his point. suspension is key to the safety of the car but like amby said, just because ksports arnt well known in this community doesnt meen they arnt in others. Ksports are huge with the honda crowd. I dont think they are cheap in the sense of construction. Buying ksports over tein is not even close to putting a harness bar or cheap ebay seats in your car. Like you said city, you hadnt heard of seats braking in half in race cars. Thats because they have good seats. Harness bar, same thing. Race cars have them with roll bars. You cant argue the fact harness bars w/o roll bars is dangerous.

I think just as much r&d went into the ksports as tein. I think teins cost so much because they have been around a while and have become a "tuner" brand with a buncha fan boys. Thats just my impression on it. When my ksports fall apart ill let everyone know but until that happens its all good.

I have to say that i love the ksports i got but i have no room to compare how they are up against the tein basics. I can only say they were a lot cheaper, more adjustable, and come with Pillowball mounts(INCLUDED). Oh and btw i installed the "spring thudding ring fixer upper thingy kit" and it got rid of the noise when the car is in motion. But if i turn my wheel while still, for instance to park, it still makes the popping noise. Also i noticed that one if the pilloball mounts were a bit looser than the other one. I can move it within the housing. Not just rotate it. And guess what...this is the side that has no noise... Maybe if you loosen the pillowball mount it allows it to move more freely????
