now that i think of it, i have a bunch of silver from my RA left over. you guys think that the silver will look good in the electric blue interior?

Webslinger: I think any color is better than the face CF.

 

Im planning on painting mine too, but i got the charcoal gray exterior so im debating on going blue or going red. hey you should post a "how-to paint interior" so everyone can do this. iono share the wealth man!

 

That looks awesome Serious08, the engine bay looks real nice too with the blue. Are you planning to do anymore interior color changes or only what youve now done?

 

Damn that looks nice.. ya know though, i have to admit i only like the doors done that way, i dont know why i dont like the dashboard like that...

 

hopefully the heat wouldnt affect the paint. i did this to my focus and after awhile the paint started to bubble up for some reason. then it started to crack. i love the color. im still debating on what i should do to mine tho. any suggestions? im leaning towards red right now since i did blue on my focus

Thanks. as of right now, thats all I have planned. I didn't want to go to crazy with the color. I might do the rear deck and possibly some custom kick panels when I make them.

 

hey SeRious08 was it hard takin out those panels inside your car to paint them? bc it doesnt seem like id b too easy, i was lookin to paint those also in the near future. response would b greatly appreciated.

 

They are super easy to take off. I was a little worried too. Being if i broke something and it being a new car...

Anyways heres a short "how-to" for the doors. Once they are off you will see how to get the trim off. They can go back on though with the panel on the door. I just recommend taking the panel off to see how the trim connects.

1. Remove the tweeter pod. Just pull out on it and leave it hanging.
2. There are 3 screws that need to be removed.
A. Small screw behind small panel in the door open handle creaves.
B. Screw behind hinged panel where the door close handle is.
C. Caped screw on the very end about 1/3 way down.
3. Grab near where the tweeter is located and gently start pulling, working your way down towards the speaker and around.
4. Then unglug all the window/lock/mirror controls from behind the panel.
5. Undo the clips that hold the lock/door open cables.

Thats it. You're done. Seriously takes about 5 minutes.

For the 2 dash trim pieces:
The small one on the left of the steering wheel:
1. Remove the 2 screws holding the lower dash part under the steering wheel. Then just pull on it and it will come out.
2. You will see a screw that holds the trim piece that wants to be painted in. Unscrew it and then give the piece a tug.

for the longer piece:
1. To the right of the glove box is a trim piece that pulls out. I just un-did the top part that exposed the screw for the trim peice that was to be painted.
2. Undo that screw and then pull on the piece gently all the way down.

Thats it!! Not much to it. Good luck and let me know if you need anymore help.

Its automotive paint. It was sprayed also with BullDog which is a plastic paint adhesive to keep it from flaking or chipping. My previous car had it done and it lasted over 3 years without chips, scratches, flaking, or fading from the sun.

Its just like any other paint, If you are rough with it, it will begin to show damage. I don't know about you, but I don't hit my door or dash or allow others to put their nasty feet on my dash. Thats just me. I treat my car with a lot of respect.


Nope, thats it. I just wanted that fake CF crap gone. Sure I could have painted so many more pieces but I didn't want to push it.

 

im a totale newbie when it comes to car detailing and finishes.

i love what you've done with the paints. is there some special technique/tips to paint the car by urself? cuz if i do, it'll be my first time.

any tips you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
