evo 7 steering wheel

anyone know of any fitment issues of replacing a stock 08 wheel with a evo7 steering wheel?? my gf bought me this for christmas and i was going to put it on my oz rally but never got around to it.. now i'm selling my car and just waiting to get enough for the down payment on a 2008.... just wanted to know if i'd be able to swap them out still?? i know there were some issues with the 04+ models.... i looked at some interior pics and saw a whole bunch of buttons on the wheel which i'm assuming are volume control, cruise settings etc... i don't really like the look of the 08 steering wheel and would most definitely love to replace it with my evo 7 one.... any thoughts or inputs??

probably not, the evo and lancer have the same interior while the 08 lancer has a totally different interior than the previous ones. it would be like putting it in any other model car, probably wouldn't fit perfectly. however where there's a will there's a way.

or i could be wrong and it might be a perfect match, since you already have the steering wheel (i think) you could try it on the 08, not like you cant just put the stock wheel back on if it doesn't fit.

be careful how hard you push if it doesn't go right away, you don't want the air bag blowing up in your face

Best bet would be to sell it, you could probably get like 300$ for it on here.

lol chances are i'm just going to try it out... the way i see it.. if i REALLY want to put that steering wheel on... there is a way to do it.... most custom mods are like that... and i cant sell my gf christmas gift!! it has sentimental value thx for everyone's help.... but back on topic.. so as of now no one has tried switching out their steering wheel for the 08?? i'm assuming not... since it's still new... but figured i'd just ask.

That's what will present problems and why I said to just sell it. I doubt the hub will be the same and the wiring is completely different (ie. 08s have wiring, earlier models don't).

It's not impossible but it won't be easy or cheap. As I said sell the thing and get something else, hell take your GF out for a nice dinner and bury the pink snake.

No one has done this wheel exchange so you're on your own. My guess is you'd need a hub converter/adapter (one that can accept the hub from the 08 and turn it into the hub from the 02-05), adapters for the airbags and horn and some sort of wiring for all the other crap. My guess is you'd be spending way more than 300$, I'd think it'd be closer to 500$.
