thats what i figured. Plus there are way to many different types of accidents, the crash bar may never even be touched.

yeah...that's not the ONLY way they'll go off, but that's the main way. they could still go off, but there's a lot smaller chance of them going off with the crash bar out.

They sell the f**in thing and even they tell you it isn't safe unless you use their specialy pattented asm Page 6 on following site:

Look at page 2, first safety check:
http://www.virclub.com/downloads/cc_techform.pdf

http://www.c2motorsport.net/belts.html
We prefer five point belts over four point belts, because the submarine belt helps keep the lap belt positioned property, and is the minimum requirement for most track cars.
I know said "and is the minimum requirement for most track cars", but I strongly beleive there is a very good reason why that is.

http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/safety-equipment.html
A 6-point harness is much safer than a 4-point one. With a 4-point, the harness can ride up your body in a crash, and all the forward forces can go onto your abdomen, crushing your vital organs. A 6-point holds the harness down.

A harness with folding road seats and mounting points at floor level is positively dangerous: in a rollover, the seat is likely to break, putting all of the force through your now-unprotected back. A broken back is the likely result. If you have road seats, stick to seat-belts, perhaps supplemented with a CG-Lock to help keep them tight.

Should I keep on going?

One of the reasons I was hesitant about going turbo.

^ definitly, I drive my car mostly, but my wife uses it now and again, so anything to comprimise the airbags isn't an option

I will see what I can do with the crash bar. It doesn't really have to be able to take an impact, i mean they are only rated to like 10mph anyway, but i guess it will need to stay somewhat intact to set off the sensors.

when i get to it, i will take lots of a photos and see what i can do. If all else fails i will get a smaller intercooler

I think that's a gross oversimplification. I don't live in fear but I don't take stupid risks for the sake of taking them.

You could always get two intercoolers, one for each side of the crash bar. I think this was discussed in the past but I'm not sure what happened to it.

thats an option. it seems like an over the top one though. If i can't modify the crash bar, i will ditch the Evo intercooler and use a smaller one. I can't imagine there will be much of a difference performance wise.

safety > speed

With how much boost you'll be using I can't see it causing any performance drop.

yeh. I do believe the IC used in RRM's basic kit keeps the crash bar? Just need a very short IC.

I think the new intercooler requires removal of the crash bar.
