Painted the front bumper on my 08 Lancer

Sanding down brand new paint feels very weird! I'm happy with the final product though. Nice little $9 mod

I don't know why, but I like that part better color matched to the car. You did a nice job though. Are you gonna clear it?

Don't clear it, the flat black looks great. I think this makes our lancer look so much more aggressive. Good job on the painting too

Thanks man! I do not clear coat flat black. I picked up a can of Dupli-color flat black bumper paint, some sand paper, and painting tape from autozone. Only cost me about $9, and the prep-work was the most difficult/time-consuming part. I used 600 grit to remove the factory clear coat, and jumped to a 2000 grit for the final stage. The 2008 Lancer's have pretty good lines to work with for this modification. Applying the painting tape was pretty easy thanks to this. I've done this a few times on other vehicles using the same paint, so I felt pretty comfortable doing this to a brand new car.

Here are some new pics:

you did a good job with the paint. You gonna put the license plate back in the middle or somewhere else?

this mod is getting way too overdone. i think if your gonna do it. You need to fill in the license plate holes and do a gloss black with clear imho.

I wish I could of filled the holes in, but Maryland requires a front license plate. I just take it off for pictures. The gloss black color would not match the grilles of the car, so I decided to go flat black with no clear.

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Now people will ask you if that is an EVO X, lol! I still get people asking me if my car is an EVO VII/VIII, lmao! And I don't even have any badging anymore.
