Question applying decals??

I appologize in advance if this is a stupid question. However, i got some decals from that speedgraphics place. They say to take off the wax before you apply them. It doesn't however tell me to reapply the wax after the decals are set. My real question is, can i apply the wax over top of the vinal decals?

ummm..my guess would be no. the water should bead up on the vinal right? isnt that the purpose of waxing your car to give it that shine and have the water bead up.

well you canwax over vinal. you dont need to but you can it wont hurt the graphics. they tell you to remove the wax so that the decals will stick to the car and not the wax. if there was wax the graphics would fall off in a hot day or a fast drive

Ok, so i should then wax up to the vynal but not on it? If i did wax over the vynal would it protect it longer? It wouldn't cloud it up or anything would it?

No man, it won,t hurt or cloud the vinyl if your using a glossy finish vinyl, it will actully protect it from fading depending on the grade of vinyl(2-4-6 ect.)year

Hi guys, I wish I could visit the board more often- but I saw this post- you should avoid putting any type of chemicals over the vinyl. Some waxes have petroleum (sp?) in them and that adversely affects the vinyl. All manufacturers of vinyl do not recommend waxing over vinyl- or at least leaving the wax on the vinyl. To remove the build-up of wax at the edge of the vinyl graphic use some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip and run that along the edge- that will remove the "white" wax build up once it's dried. Soap and water will keep it look brand new for many many years, We also have a message board with Q&A's like this:

Sweet, thanks for the info. One more question though. if im not supposed to put wax over the decal. Does that mean that i shouldn't re apply wax around the decal? My thoughts are that i should, because the wax protects the paint. Is this thinking off base?
