My new used wilwoods

Thanks to ozlancer1 I now have a Wilwood big brake kit. Installed it today. was very easy install. Only trouble was getting the stock brake lines off. they were all seized up at the clip on the fender wall.

Besides all the negatives of a big brake kit with ceramic pads such as longer brake distance. Reduced stopping until the pads heat up and the fact I dont think I can fit my winter rims on anymore. They are great. Awsome bite, no fade. very strong. Im pleased with them. heres some pics.

yeah, I think so too. Fills a 17" wheel quite nicely. I would love to do the rear conversion but just cant justify the cash for that..

I thought one of the advantages of "upgrading" to a big brake kit was to reduce stopping distance? The ceramic pads really shouldn't take time to heat up...at least my Axxis ULTs have always been great cold or hot. They definitely look great though!

Yeah, we've all been there. My buddy swaps wheels AND brakes every Spring and Winter. Just takes a bit longer. You probably won't be racing much over the Winter, though, right?

Welcome to N00bland. Let me remove some myths that you believe.

BBKs take LONGER to stop. They are LESS safe for daily driver.
What they DO excell at is heat management. If you're riding your car hard and braking a lot (track day, canyon run, etc.), these brakes will not overheat or fade like the stock set would.

haha. the moral support was much appreciated.

I probably will have to swap stock brakes in for winter unless I can find some 17's for cheap. I really dont want to have to do it but rotor and caliper swap doesnt take long at all. Took me longer to swap brake lines on one side then it did rotors/calipers on both.

Total install time was about 2 hours. 1'st one took a while since I had never done brakes before. Second one went very quickly. A lot of time was due to me cursing at the dam brake lines. Bleeding the brakes took a little time as well. If I did it again. I bet I could have it done in under an hour easy. experience is the key. ha

Thats a long answer to a simple question. oh well.

you'll be singing a different tune when it's -15 and we have two feet of snow on the ground, haha.

looking good though... personally i'd look for different rims to make the winter change as easy and painless as possible.

haha. what is it, like 10% of our braking is in the rear? I dunno if $700 for 10% braking is worth it on this car. I am going to powdercoat the rear drums black though. Very soon.

I usually swap my winter set on early before I run into that problem. We will see if I can find a set of 17's with good tires or not.
