Cools off the driver. You don't need one.

I lol'd

Hes right you dont need one...

But hes also wrong...

In mid / rear engine mounted vehicals the roof scoop takes place of the hood scoop to essentially ram air into the rear mounted engine bay, much like vented and ducted rear fenders... but the point remains.

You dont need one.

I'm not wrong, I just didn't cover everything. I assume he means the scoops you see on rally cars which are for cooling the driver. The STi Spec C actually comes with one instead of a sunroof and I assume AC.

No, on a street car it's silly and unnecessary, and in my opinion the definition of rice.

Did some cleaning now that we know what the actual question is.

Roof scoops are key for folks doing rallies. You can't have the window open (because all sorts of mud and dirt would fly in), and the AC system is usually removed for race purposes, so you have a roof scoop to get some fresh air to the driver. It's really unneeded unless you start rallying.

As for doing it just for looks - that depends on you. Some people say rice, some people say OK. It's a personal preference.

I had this same question, gladd someone asked it. I thought it provided some sort of downforce or something. I assume it has some filter or something to keep dust and excess dirt out right? I wouldn't put one unless you are going for an all out rally look.

The STi Spec C comes with one but it's clearly a car meant for racing.
