yeah i paid cash to have custom pipes made and welded to my muffler and my bumper got a little burnt. It isnt that bad and i just shrugged it off cause it is just the "lip" on the bumper. You can really notice it unless you look close, is yours really fried?

You bet there is. FIrst ask them nicely for a refund. If you paid by check or credit card you can A) cancel the check if they are *******s or B) Dispute the charge with your credit card company and let them know why. Credit card companies are really easy to deal with when getting money back. If you paid cash you may just want to let them know (after or if they say no money back) that you are gonna let everyone you come in contact with know that they are a bunch of ****** and that they dont stand behind their work and that should help a little. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

If its a big chain I wouldnt recommend threatening them by telling others not to shop there. You can get sued if they want to be a dick. Just threaten to do a chargeback if they dont pay for the damages. Make sure your receipt/paperwork from the shop doesnt have anything in fine print that might protect them.

Actually nevermind. Since you paid with cash, its going to be a toughy. Hopefully they will pay for the damages.

3 words... Better Business Bureau.

IF they dont help you out, just tell them you are going to report them to the BBB, and then if they dont do anything, report them and then tell them that you did. companies usually cooperate with you after you bring the BBB in when they are in the wrong.

if you are under 18 you're not responsible for your contracts and can dissafirm atr any time. If not you can sue them for negligence. if it is a big chain then you can sue by vicarious liability but by then it would be a nuisance suit. best bet is to contact a lawyer and see what he has to say about it.

I concur, go back to the shop and point out the problem, always talking respectfully. Don't bring in a lawyer or think about sueing right off the bat, it pisses me off how people jump to that conclusion so quickly. If they don't comply, threaten to go to the BBB. If they again don't comply, go to the BBB, then go back. Then if they don't comply, get a lawyer. Dealing with a lawyer and courts can get pretty expensive and is a complete pain in the butt. I mean really, if it's just a hanger that needs to be bent is it really worth forking out hundered or thousands of dollars in lawyer fees?

Plus, another option would be going with a double walled tip on the muffler (shop could weld this onto your existing muffler), which prevents the bumper from melting because the outer wall doesn't get up to full exhaust temperature.
