Customized grille and mesh
Has anyone thought about making their own ENTIRE grille? I thought the grilles you can buy from Ebay or other companies are way too expensive, and after some research I think it might be possible to make the entire grille out of raw materials. I'm gonna get a custom job on the silver-chrome frame around the mesh (Frame only, no T-Back look-alike), and use diamond-style plastic mesh in the middle. Also gonna add the Mitsu emblem on the front to make it look more professional. What do y'all think?

Sounds like a good idea to me, just take your time and don't do a sloppy job and I'm sure it will look great. Post pics when you're done.
EDIT: Forgot to say that it has been done a couple of times and each one looked pretty good.

Here's a spoiler for Initial D. If you want to read it, just highlight the silver text below.
The hachi-roku(AE86 Trueno) becomes Takumi's after the new engine is installed in 2nd Stage, and he keeps the car after 3rd stage (movie). His dad would need a new car to continue delivering tofu to Akina Lake. Granted, Takumi never left Akina, so in theory his dad probably still has the hachi-roku. What I was getting at was that he didn't have an STi, but could get one after the series since Takumi presumably gets the hachi-roku.
Of course, that's all speculation and was never discussed in the series at all.

Bunta, if and when you do the grill, post us a pic. We'd love to see it

They call the cars by their body style or their engine type.
IE Sil80 was a vehicle they produced that was half silvia half 180sx. I heard this was because when drifting drivers would crash their 180 it was cheaper to do a replace with a silvia front end because of the 180's pop up headlights became so popular Nissan actually produced them like this factory for a while in 1994 only 400 or so.

Because we've been heading that way since reply number two...
and to add to the names of cars, it's actually the chasis code. i don't know of any of the cars being referred to by their names.
