it is just the standing image they use for all carbon fiber they sell. they don't have a picture up for their real carbon fiber, but they say they have one. i kinda doubt they are lying about it lol theyd get found out pretty quickly.

 

Bottom line - when you're as big as VIS, you don't have to take the time to take pictures. Your customers will do that for you. All you have to do is go "hey, we're selling these!" and then start counting the money.

 

like i was saying in another forum...why soo quick to make a cabon fiber trunk?!?!?! is it in such HIGH demand? im thinking carbon fiber lip, fenders, but trunk? geesus who actually buy these?

 

I called VIS they said this would be out in december, i called in october.

 

Hood and trunk are the first CF pieces that 90% of people think of. Lip and fenders aren't as common, so they earn the company less money. Just as an example - how many 02-03 Lancers do you see with CarbonTrix CF hoods? And how many with CF fenders? I'd bet you know of way more hoods than fenders.

If I had the money (I don't), I'd buy the hood and trunk tomorrow. So I guess I'd be the target market...

 

he is arguing the demand for a trunk which is a whole lot less than a hood. you're right though, as soon as you get the hood, you look at your truk and say wow, it would look really nice and balanced if that was carbon too.

i don't like carbon fenders, though. just looks bad. either the whole car should be carbon or just the hood and trunk or just accents like a lip. all that gray with a big white door in the middle looks sorry.

 

VIS and Seibon is junk. I have seibon hood/trunk. gel coat sucks, cracking, yellowing and getting cloudy. My friend has a VIS CF hood on his rx7. Flimsy, clear is cloudy and this thing is a weekend warrior. never sees sun. Thats my input. I will never buy seibon or vis again. It will have to be a much better brand. Something like do luck.

 

yeh. as sheep man said. Hood and trunk are the big sellers. Lip would be next but unless people are going for the whole CF front end look or actually racing the car. noone ever gets cf fenders. Especially since a lot of times they are just overlays (such as rrm's)

 

That's the general VIS trunk picture. They use that as a sample, they did it for the Mirage too.

I've got a VIS CF Hood and the clear coated lasted about 2 years without fading. Now it's starting to...

did you apply any wax on it. I had a cf hood on my galant before i sold it. Had the hood on there for 5 years and it never faded...as i was applying wax to it... every month

 

I would get the trunk but I have the GTS, so I would have to go without the spoiler or have it look funny with a CF trunk and regular spoiler on top of it (which I don't know is even possible)

 

I did at least every two weeks and during show season waxing the CF once a week. still yellowed and is getting cloudy... That is with using meguires.

 

Every month or so. If I wax it looks like new though. I did add some clear coat the the few spots that were fading and it looks as good as new now.
