205/4517 are almost an exact replacement for the stock diameter. 205/40s are small enough that the speedo will be off. check it out . . .

i think its because i have a es and they come with diff wheels!
because i was told 40's are almost exacly the same size

I got 215.35.18 and planning to drop on tein springs as well so will I be rubbling on every turn and bounce....

You might be able to get away with 215/40R17's. I have them and the Tein Basic Coilovers and they only rub when I back out of a driveway at too tight of an angle, and that's a light rub. More of a caress of the inner fender plastic. 45 aspect ratio is too wide. I had 215/45R17's when I bought the car and they polished my inner fenders to the point that I had to re-apply rubberizer. 215/40's or you'll have to go down to 205/40's, but I think those look too small.

I doubt it, i have an 03 lancer and had the same size tires at one point and time, with sprint springs(1.8" drop). I did not rub at all.
