my grill project and transformation

Hi guys. i recently bought a 5 speed lancer es. I couldnt stand the grill so i first thought that painting the mitsubishi logo black would help but then quickly relized all of the chrome must go. What do you guys think?

much better. removal of chrome is a must on a lancer.

now get some black headlights and you'll be in a good spot!

I did i sanded it and put two coats of primer, then 3 coats of paint and then 3 coats of clear.

man if you guys think what he did to his grill is "apprehensive"..... i am making my stock grill into and evo style grill from abs plastic..... total cost for this should be under 15 bucks... lol and the best part is its gonna be plastic... no fiberglass to crack and its also mad cheap... but it does require some skill to do this and get it to look decent and alot of time.... and holy its hard to sand the chrome off... (i used some 36 grit sandpaper and it just scratches it) here are some pics of my progress.... its no where near done tho... i just do when i have some free time....






















and that random shot of my car is from the drive thru windows at mcds where i work...... LOL

I tried painting mine too, but it just didn't look right. I like what you're doing with yours es 02, hopefully the end product will look nice. Looks like a lot of work

yeah it is definitely a whole lot of work especially since i dont have the right tools or anything... i don't even have a dremel..... yeh i just hope it will turn out great.. but so far it looks like it should....
