Check out my ride
thank you and no its not a 5spd, i went all out on this car, its the fully loaded CVT paddle shift version. before you talk trash, know this.....the MR X is only coming in the paddle shift version, no 5 spd stick version. so a fully loaded X would have all the same features as my car plus all the hp and awd. i always say, go big or go home. this is why i got a fully loaded GTS.
You might as well compare your car to an F1 car or a Ferrari if your only criteria is that it has flappy paddle shifters. Hell you could argue that an automatic is the same as a manual using that logic since both have shift knobs. Plenty of fully-loaded cars don't come with shifter paddles, go and ask for paddle shifters on a Corvette or a Viper and watch as they laugh. Paddle shifters are simply the newest fad used to attract people to buying cars, nothing more.

the comparision from my car to the mr is that they are both fully loaded and you couldnt get anymore options on our versions of our cars. if i want to do a motor/tranny swap and completly turn my car into an evo, then it would be done with ease since i have everything in place that the mr has, hence the paddle shifters. i know every single detail and difference from the Lancer GTS and the Lancer Evo X GSR/MR.
oh and dont worry, the vette is getting paddle shifters in the future. the fab that you think is a fab is only in your head. the use of the paddle shifters is to have the same control of your car without letting go of the steering wheel.....hence a safty feature that works as good if not better than a manual trans. in the MR it has dual clutch, so that tranny is for sure better than a manual 5 spd.
Yep I'm pretty sad that I didn't get the fully loaded version of my car, oh wait, I did. The whole point of my auto to manual comparo is to show how illogical your point was, the only thing that your car has in common transmission wise with the MR is the means by which the shifts are executed, ie. the paddle shifters which are equivalent to the shift knob on an auto or a manual. Like I said, you really can't compare the two.
The motor and transmission swap won't be easy. You're naive if you think so.
There is no evidence that paddle shifters are either A. safer or B. superior to the traditional shifter system. There is also no evidence that the SST transmission is superior to the traditional manual, in fact there is evidence that it will prove to be a limiting factor in terms of how far the car can be modded.
As a side note, quite giving everyone who disagrees with you attitude, no one is hating and you're getting damn close to crossing theline by calling people "stupid" and "idiots". You've been warned about this in the past.

I'm with Amby on this one. The comparison between the tranny in the GTS to that in a EVO shouldnt even be made. Even if both have paddle shifters. It would be like comparing a toyota supras manual tranny to a manual tranny in a Yaris. Totally different animals. As far as recorrecting what you ment by saying you just got the highest trim available in the car is just pointless to the argument.
As Amby allready stated. The CVT tranny may be a limiting factor as to how far you can push it power wise. We all know manuals can be beefed up to allow for modding and handle power. These lower end CVT paddle shift trannys have not really been pushed yet to my knowledge. Im sure they will be soon with this GTS but its limiting factors have yet to be seen. If anyone has info on what kinda power the CVT trannys can handle please share.

I was actually talking about the SST transmission in the evo but you're right about the CVT. Both are essentially unproven transmissions using relatively new technology that isn't easy to mod or repair making them potential weakpoints for both cars. People know how to make a manual transmission car handle more power, beef up the clutch plate, beef up the pressure plate and if necessary, thrown new gears in the transmission itself but what do you do to an SST or a CVT tranny?
your car looks amazing man.. How long did it take to get the kit shipped out?.. Did you find it hard to fit on the car? Im looking to order the front bumper for my black lancer.. would make it stand out alot. Did the parts come painted ?
I enjoyed that debate up there between you and Amby it was so.......one sided. On the other hand however, your car does look nice, and I do have to commend you for what you have done
