very intresting then y would there be a switch for one or the other? im gonna have to check this out cause as many times as i have changed those damn bulbs i would think i would have seen this.....

switch? you mean the high beam switch or something else?

low beams - one filament is on
high beams - both filaments are on

... which is why my low beam probably burned out first... its on more.

so what do this mean "55/65w = 110/120w" when they put it up as details for a bulb?

that means that the bulb uses 55 watts to make an output of 110, and 65 watts to output 120... basically it takes stock wattage and makes it look 2x as bright

ok purecoda, then if both filiments are on, why when on high beam and you pull back on the hi/low switch they both lite up? i ask cuz i dont think both filiments are lit when on high... i maybe wrong but try that.

honestly, i'm not completely sure. maybe each filament just carries a different wattage. when my low beam burnt out on my driver's side, i should have checked for a difference in high beam brightness.
