Has the tranny fluid ever been changed? You may also want to check the condition of your engine mounts. There's one in easy sight under the middle of the engine, above the support in the center. The other one is towards the back of the engine, and harder to get at. I'm no mechanic, but I sold auto parts for a loooong time. The pounding into gear at first had me thinking bad motor mounts, but seeming like it has only one gear sounds like the transmission might be bad, which was why I asked about the fluid being changed. Not changing that can ruin the transmission.
As for the taillights, did they work for you before, or did you just get this car? If you just got the car, someone might have put in the wrong taillight bulbs to save a buck, possibly causing them not to work properly. This is the easiest scenario I can think of, and the easiest to check. Other than that, has the car been rear ended? Those are the main things popping up in my mind. Good luck.

trans working fine now it was because i took the negative battery term off and ecu reset so car was running to my racing specs and not to my normal driving so i took off the negative bat cable again and now it runs like a champ but for the tail lights i had the car for some time and just got some hyper white bulbs for it so it would be brighter and better to see when im stoping but they are not working at night like when im driving or parked if i step on the brake it comes on but no running tail so people can see that im on the road from behind

Could still be the wrong bulbs. Stock are probably dual filament, what you have sounds like single.
