Hey guys
I'm gonna move from NY to Monterey Park, CA at the end of the week and i want to tint my window before i go on the trip. And i have a 50 state law comparative chart and it saids that in CA it only allow 70% on the front and ANY on the rear. But i want to keep my car legal and avoid get pull over. So i want to do 70% all around and i want to know how dark 70% is??

70 % is not dark at ALL the lower the number the darker... My windows are 20% on the front and limo tint in the back... not sure hwat % that is exaclty... you can check out how dark it is in my pics in my profile if you want.

 

Well through a few discussions with old police officers, I have learned if you have a doctor's note that says your eyes are bad so you need tinted windows. Then you can have FULL tint on every window on your car, and they can't do anything. But I dont know the law in CA or NY so I'd check before you do that.

 

im out in cali and in my town cops roll people all the time for any tint on the front windows.. I got a 03 lancer oz and my back and sides are limoed out and no problems yet.

 

The CA law is that you cannot have any tint on your front two windows. (Being front driver and front passenger) You can have the rear windows and rear windshield as dark as you want. And there is also a law on the tint for front windshield. I believe you can have a visor of about 6 inches or so that goes down but not positive on inches.

I have limo all the way around on my car and have gotten pulled over for it like 5 times. If they ask you about it I have just said that i just got them done like 2 days ago or so and just found out that they are illegal. Then tell him that you have an appointment with some place to get it taken off tomorrow. Sounds for real then if you have an appointment. If they see that you are getting it taken care of then they will just say ok just make sure you are careful until then. It has worked everytime for me. And for whatever reason if that doesnt work just grab the get out of jail free card out of any monopoly box and just hand it too him. (friend actually did this on a speeding ticket and the cop just laughed and told him to slow down) Funniest thing I have ever seen. Helps his dad was a cop in the city but still hilarious. But yeah tint good go for it and just be safe. I still drive with windows down when I see cops just so I dont have to hassle with it.

 

yeah 70 is like factory tint lol u wont get pulled over. go 20 all around or so maybe 15

 

i talked to my cop friend and he says they can ticket you if they cant see them so what an old trick is to hook a switch up to you car that disables the slide windows so if a cop pulls you over you just have your windows rolled down and flip the switch. just tell the officer your windows are broken they can not ticket you! but that only covers the side windows
