Gumout is the product I used as it was recommended to me by my shop manager.

The SES light actually came on again today...stayed on all day. I went to the parts store to pick up coil packs and plugs and such... then as soon as I started it in the parking lot I noticed the light turned off. UGH! Sigh.

Anyhow I'll let you know what happens after I do the repairs.

Thanks, that info would be great. Have you taken the negative terminal off so your ecu will reset and relearn everything?

I just got my Magnacore wires in the mail today. I took 1 minute to install them. I have to say, I am very pleased with the wires and the new coil packs. Apparently, my car has been in need of a tune up anyway. It no longer seems slugish, its more peppy now. So far, I highy recommend the OBX coil packs and I do recommend the Magnacore spark plug wires. The spark plug wires are meant for the 00-05 4 cylinder 4g64 Eclipse and Galant. I got them on ebay. Way better than the crappy ones I had years back for my Mirage. The quality was great too. I will post pics soon.

Interesting new project. To fill you in on the results I was only able to get one new coil pack from Advanced Auto Parts (as that's all they had in stock) and the wires they had were a set of 2 boots (for the coil packs) and two wires for the spark plugs. So all I ended up getting was a set of 4 NGK spark plugs (had NGK-R brand from mitsu in there before) and one coil pack.

So I replaced the spark plugs and the one bad coil pack and noticed a big difference. I purposely went up this steep hill near my house to see if it would bog at all like it had before and it didn't at all. I still hear it "gurgle" a bit on decel but not nearly as bad as before.

To answer your question, no I did not pull the neg battery cable...probably should have in hind sight but if I decide to get OBX coil packs then I'll remember to do it then.

Sweet, glad yours worked out also. I like seeing these problems get fixed. I plan to do a review pretty soon on the packs and wires. I got my header and cat in the mail. Goes on this weekend. I also got my rrm piggyback. I think I want to put it on last after my intake manifold goes on.

Ok, heres another update. Headers and OBX high flow cat installed with o2 sensor fix. I have to rewire up the sensor. I'll have pics this up tomorrow. I should be installing the fuel rail, fuel pressure regulator and piggyback tomorrow.

Nice. I'll be looking forward to reading that especially since the last thing I saw about it on these forums was that they weren't much more than red dress up coils for the engine lol. I like to see things get fixed easily as well. Especially when its an easy and cheap fix that makes my car go faster lol. Let me know how easy the RRM piggy back is to install/use as that's the next upgrade I've been looking at for my car. Especially seeing as how my friend gave me his old turbo off his '96 Eclipse GS-T (now rebuilt by a friend of my service manager ) which I'll be gathering the parts to install soon.

The RRM piggyback was easy to install. Just follow the directions RRM includes with the unit. It took like 15 to 20 min to install. If you know how to T into a wire, you can do it. Very simple. it worked out great for me.

If you have a factory wing, it will bolt right on to replace it. Otherwise, you'll have to drill holes in the trunk where the mounting points are, which wouldn't be hard at all.

Car looks good! Where did you find your fuel rail and did you feel any improvements?

I haven't taken it to an auto car wash. Probably never will. As for the fuel rail, it didn't fit, they sold me the wrong one.

Hello Juan,

Why did you use the magnacore wires made for the 4g64 eclipse rather than the ones made for our specific cars? I ask as am planning to change my plugs , wires and coil packs and am studying it first to make sure I get it right. Anyway, was it for some benefit you used those wires or just because you saw them first or whatever?

Justin

Well, I found them on ebay for 79 bucks. I couldn't find any others except off RRM's site which where alittle more. They are the same wire for both cars.
