Thanks! thats for the evoI or II whatever it is lol.. I'm going with aluminum pipes and probably a bit wider as well... thats if I go with the front mount setup.. I've been doing a lot of thinking about going liquid to air... many of the big dogs in NZ and Europe run liquid to air and have had awesome results.. overall would keep my temps down better then any front mount I buy but the added weight of the water box ect.. is what is got me thinking..

is that a stock evo 8/9 front bumper? I didn't know if that would fit or not.

 

evo8/9 bumpers actually fit just fine.. radiator core supports r different on the car, so u gotta change it or u gotta just do your own custom fitment for it to work. ( but if u do the bumper, u gotta do the quarter panels hood and lights also, other wise your body lines wont line up at all)

I will be doing a evo8/9 jdm bumper with the rear quart panel flares and also cf evo rear doors with lexan windows.. should look pretty since once its done..(ill be doing this onec my cars actually running, cant tackle to many major projects at once)

turbotime your fab work is awsome, u could apply wjhat your doing to just about any car, but on a lacner it makes it special for sure..

for intercooling piping.. id suggest (depending on what u can get) a 3inch aluminum pipe that has much thicker walls.. (so it be more like a 2.75 Id pipe) the thicker walls on the aluminum help disperse heat faster, if u look into some mega course racing cars they use this stuff, (donno where to get it, ive always stuck to the small thin stuff that looks pretty all polished up) stainless also dispersess heat very fast as long as its the thin walled 304 and not 409 or galvonized. id love to do some really nice stainless intercooling piping on my car, but the cost of decent aluminum is just so much cheaper.

 

I'm mainly concerned with weight.. I like aluminum because its inexpensive and light..

but like I said if I go liquid to air my temps will be drastically lower then a front mount... so I either go heavier liquid to air setup with fantastic cooling or lighter front mount setup with ok cooling..

I hope to get the car to 2500lbs so its a tuff one.. sacrifice on one area to gain in another.. just which area do I want to sacrifice is the question lol

 

wow.. 2500? lol.. i was at 2180 last time i weighed mine.. and ive taken a few things off since then..

 

Keep in mind I have a 10pt roll cage, and a rear end which is a few hundred lbs easy..

I think when it will come down to it, it will be close.. The evo guys freak if they hit below 2700lbs so will see.. I would have a hard attack if I was close to 2000lbs when everything was all said and done.

 

ya. i gotcha.. well the next week or so im gutting the crap out of my car.. got a list of about 30 things i can remove still (should be about 100lbs)
once i go lexan and cf doors, that will drop me another 100 or so.. i wont be surprised to see something under 2k. but no cage.. and my cage i want built is pretty simple, i dont see it weighing more then 100lbs.. (less then 40' of tubing)

but who knows.. i might end up still being around 2200. we will see in a few weeks.

 

Damn man, I just came across this thread a year later practically but that is awesome! It's an Evo!

If you have some friends at the DMV start messing with some VINs and you might be able to start making some money with this type of thing!

Subframe in, and mocked up.. just need to finish the welds and clean up. Steering rack also mocked up so just need to finalize that.. then also starting to plan out how the swaybar will work..
