Talking HORRAY! My new toys are INSTALLED!!!

Continued from https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=45595 ....

Alright guys, here are some 1:30 am shots of my car in my garage. I just got home from work and it's hella dark out, so maybe I'll take some nicer shots tomorrow. Here's somethin for now:

a shot from the side.. if u can't tell, it really needs a drop! i'm still amazed that 18x8 42mm offset actually fit... i think a 46 woulda been better, tho (it's really close to those rear mounts....)

sorta get an idea of the tires... they're 225/40/zr18 ~ the 225 width was perfect for the 8" width rim, and the 40 just keeps my rim safer! i'll get more shots later, but the rim is perfect with the tire!

installed my header this morning (with my dad's help, of course!). sounds great... not too ricey unless i rev it up and let it sputter back down (i really need a hi-flo cat and a catback exhaust).

the last shot is a pic of some rubbage.. the only place it rubs on my car!! on the mudflap that i'd get rid of, but i live in washington... i'm gonna shave it down tomorrow (the sound is annoying as hell!)

A drop would definately make it look better but it's only going to rub more. A body kit might even look better than a drop anyway since they are 18's.

Oh yeah and tint them windows, dark as possible to match those wheels.

actually , they were worried about the rubbing issues when the car was up in the air at les schwab, but they went away when the car was put back on the ground. funny enough, the inside of the wheel well (next to the strut mounts) slants back away from rubbing issues! dropping the car would only help me have less (unless of course i dropped like 2 inches... then i'd be screwed).

i'm gonna talk to h&r about it.. there's a lot of talk that thier springs fit the es, and they are located right here in wa!

drop it like its hot man. I stayed away from 18's especially with an 8 inch wheelbase cuz i was really scared of rubbing... i used to think that if i stayed with 35" tires i'd be fine, but everyone kept tellin me it'd still rub. I'm lookin for a good set of 17X7.5 rite now, so that i can drop it with no problem later on.

all i can say is ****!

so i'm drivin home tonite with my radio off cause i thot i heard some rubbin earlier, then i hear somethin metalic...
it seems like my stock springs settled a bit and they're now rubbing across the top of my tire when i make turns! i'll get some shots later, but this really really sucks! it's only on the front, but i'm still hella sad.. $1300 into this!

anyone have any suggestions? thinner springs maybe (do they exist)? what's the deal with that tien suspension kit? $1k is outta my price range for a while, but i'll do what i have to next year (my car will be garage kept thru winter anyway). i'm also looking into getting the oz front perches/struts or whatever i need to use oz springs.. would this help at all? i'm just gonna look for toasted ozs at junk yards or somethin

oy vey... and i thot the mudflap was the end of my worries...

sorry to hear that man.. for now, all you could probably do is take wider turns to keep them from rubbing.. thats your only probable solution.. or you could try to run with more camber so that your car protrudes at the top [forgot wut kinda camber that is]. but the only thing is that your tires will wear TOO TOO quick..

and handle like ****e, also he might be facing rubbing issues on the top of the wheel well since hes running a 40 series with an 18" rim, so 235 is definitely huge compared to the stock 195 might have to switch to a 20 series to fix the problem unless you do custom fab and can switch your strut mounts around, good luck and id say to just go with the 20 series tire if not sell your rims and go with a 17 if you want at least a 40 series, but whatever you do, good luck.
