just go get one of those tips that clamp on to your pipe like what i did. you can buy it at discount auto parts. like 20 bucks but don't quote me. i took mine off cuz people kept asking me what kinda exhaust i had on the car. i'm recomending this cuz since you say your going to get the whole setup later anyway i wouldn't waste money on a muffler with a tip and have it installed. but be warned: you'll have to explain to alot of ppl that its not an exhaust just a tip. you'll see it pays off. adds style to your car quick. infact it was the cause of one of my friends buying a lancer himself. so good luck kromix, i'm sure your car is going to come out great.

i got a 3A Racing Muffler Tip.

my friend had it on his 94 cavalier, but he got a custom exhaust done, so he gave me the tip.

its either 4.5 or maybe 5" i guess....it fills the hole with maybe like a 1/4" gap around the tip on my ES...it looks really nice.

im at school, other wise i'd take a pic. When i get home ill take a picture really quick and put it up. It sticks out about 1/2 to 1" from the bumper...to prevent it from burnign my bumper etc.

Oh, and if you don't want it to stick out that far, it doesn't have to. Basically, you bolt it wherever you want it. I didn't originally want it out that far, but when I asked my cousin to tell me when it was where I wanted it, he instead told me to stop where HE wanted it. Obviously it didn't bother me too much since it's been like that for 11 months now...

yeah i twisted and shoved mine on until i thought it looked good...other wise if i put it towards the end of hte pipe...it would of been about 5-6 inches past the bumper..ewwww lol, obvously in the closeup u can see my orig. tail pipe....but IRL u can't tell cuz its to dark in there and u only see it for a split second before i tear away from the person behind me =)

the oz rally exhaust tips (chrome) were like $60 for me.. which i now see seems to be an overprice, but anyways.. it looks nice and has been staying strong for over a year, so i'd recommend it.. here it is on my munich silver 03 lancer oz rally (yes it is an overall picture.. i'll get a specific one soon)
