well after work today(5am-9am) i decided to goto Autozone and buy some Neons for inside cuz i had a $20 gift card and figured i'd start early ya know.
Well now after about 40 minutes of HAND turning a drill bit, i have a very special ashtray
The lights aren't mounted yet and nothings wired cuz ive been busy with the ashtray and figuring out how the hell to do it! lol.
Steps
1.) Took out center console
2.) Took hacksaw and sawed at the 2 layers of plastic under the ashtray
3.) Hand Turned Drill bit through bottom of ashtray
4.) Placed 2 special switches in the ashtray
pics soon to come soon as the comp recognizes the camera! w00t! next to set up the lights and wire em up!
Quick Question, on the wires goin to the cig. lighter...theres a solid black and a black with yellow stripe, which is power/ground? Thanks a lot ppl!!

damn...... i'm pretty sure the wire that is directly connected to the back of the cigarette lighter itself is the ground, and the one connected directly to the side is the positive. yeah that sounds about right. best of luck
ghts wired up the same way i put the switch in the ashtray because i didnt want that red glow from the switch attracting any unwanted attention. it came out pretty good now which wires are you talking about im not sure which ones you see cause i didnt have to mess with any wired when i put mine in but then again i just pulled out the ashtray to do it and not the whole center console pm me if you want pics of how it came out
I made a plate for te top of mine that I mounted a few mini rockers into so I only had to drill a small hole in the bottom to run the wires through. and i did this in March of 2002.

ive been tryin ever since i posted, my camera won't load the pics to my comp..its frustrating me!
i think when i decide to get more lights, im gonna mount the switches to the center console, right below the lid...u know what i mean?
just drill holes below the lid handle, i thought about doin that but decided not to. than again, i close my ashtray lid and u can't tell theres any sign of switches =)
EDIT: HOLY ****, JUST REALIZED IM AN EVOLVED MEMBER
WHEN DID THAT HAPPEN?!?! LMAO

well its all done and put together!!!!!!!!
i got 2 9" thin neon tubes under my dash, and the switch is in the ashtray for them. my dad was a telephone technician in the coast guard for 30 some odd years, he helped me out a bit and had some cool connectors i could use. it looks sooo cool, still light out but pics coming soon!!(i hope..lol)
