Why is the clear coat not drying?

A couple of friends and i painted my stock grille black on thursday the 15th and the clear coat is still fairly soft. I have kept it in the house the last couple of days where it is warmer and less humid. Actually it was big dan that did the painting and he applied each layer of paint too soon when each layer was not quite dry. Could this be the cause of the clear coat not drying? How long should it usually take to dry? Thanks guys.

Color should be applied in THIN layers and should be tacky before putting another layer on (generally 15-20 minutes in between). The clearcoat should be done in 1 layer and it takes 24 hours to dry to the touch and 72 hours to COMPLETELY cure. Use an area heater to help the curing process.

Did you guys mix in the proper ratio of clearcoat and activator before spraying the clearcoat? (This only applies if you got a clearcoat in a can that requires activator)
