painting the brake calipers
I brought a spray paints for $10....but I haven't paint it yet. I was thinking to take out the caliper...because it seems very easy to take it off isn't it? Is it just 4 bolts then the caliper will be off? Btw, here is the paint I have right now...
The caliper is not hard to remove. You definately want to do this before you start spraying, otherwise you will that crap all over the disc, and that will ruin them. Plus you dont want it on the brake pad either. This is why I think the brushes are easier, you take the wheel off and start.
i think ill definitely be brush painting the calipers - too much trouble to go taking off the calipers and taping around them and all that jazz - plus i think the brush paint kits look better . . more glossy judging by what ive seen on cars . . it costs a little more for one of those kits, but for something like this i think you get what you pay for
spray can=10 bucks
brush paint kit=40 bucks

lil' more
i also realized that taking off the callipers would be easy, but I was afraid that it might be complicated putting them back on. I didn't know if they needed to be adjusted just the right way once u put them back on. Has anyone used the spray can which is pictured above??? if so how did it turn out for you, and did u spray or brush them?????
sorry but i don't want to be the guinea pig

well the job would be much tedious, but you risk a bigger chance of accidently spraying a part that you would have not prefered to get any paint on ... i say stick with the brush

ok if i take the callipers off, do they have to be adjusted to a certain fitting once i put them back on. I don't want to **** up my brakes, if i do i might end up w/ a busted front end from not coming to a stop..ya know what i mean??
Taking the calipers off requires disconnecting the hoses - that means you'll have to do a gravity bleed of your brake system when you reattach them to make sure there's no air in the lines...

yeah, hes talking about taking it completely off the car. you are going to have to bleed the brake lines. it isnt easy...but it isnt hard. but you will have to compress the pistons again to put the pads back on later, and you will need some tools you probably dont have just sitting in your garage. i would say just take like an hour to cover everything up (axles, rotors, fender, etc..) then paint them. it is a pain to do all the covering, but its better than getting paint on everything...and cheaper than buying colored calipers...
its just like painting a car...only smaller, so harder. just use lots of tape

I painted my Rear Drums and I think it looks very nice ( I Primarily painted them because they were rusty and ugly, not because i really wanted color there ), now working on the calipers, trying to decide how to tackle it.. We'll see.. Pictures when its all done, Red on White lancer.

I bought a caliper paint set that uses a brush. It's called folia tec caliper set. I paid $40 for it from a local performance store. I haven't used it yet.
