Everybody is all into painting the headlight housing black (which i am also planning on doing), but never talk about doing it to the tails. I got a pair of chrome depos that i dont really want, but thot about maybe painting all the chrome black. I had the cf tycs and got tired of them and dont really want the black housing tycs anymore. I also dont want the gunmetal depos bc i dont want shiny tails. What do you guys think of this idea? Do you see any problems with this? I also was thinking of slighty slightly tinting the lenses black, but that may look bad.

 

check out what solarxclipse did to his evo tails.. he didnt paint the chrome, but he tinted the lenses. check it out coz it looks hot

yea theres a couple posts on how to paint the housings black its quite a bit more tricky, u gotta be really careful not to crack the lens. but what i think would be really sweet is take the stock headlights and tint the part thats not red

 

badevo: pics look cool, but i said slightly tinted, so the lens it still translucent

brent: i assume you meant tailight in the second sentence right? bc there arent any red parts in the headlights.

 

using the method I used you can go as dark as u like. My first coat was very translucent I just wanted dark!

 

I was wondering if there was a way to paint the chrome/blinker section black not tint my paint. I wonder if it would be as easy as the headlights.

 

i think i may do something else. i will paint the chrome housing red to match my body and then tint the red blinkers black with the nite shades and leave the lens alone.

It's what I did to my tails...it's just Night Shades tail spray I did the side marker blinkers too. Plan on doing the headlights real soon

no my idea is not what you did to your tails. you just tinted the lens of the stock ones. i had two ideas for the chrome depo altezzas i have:
1. paint chrome housing black and barely tint lens
2. paint chrome housing red (my body color) and tint the individual red lens' dark black.

i am leaning towards the second idea now.

no biggie. yeah thats what i am worried about. i need to find out more about what paint to use. i think it would looks great and i think it would def e original.
