blacked out headlights????

ok ive asked this in many topics before and i know a few people here have done it themselvs, but how do you do it exactly??? how do you manke blacked out headlights????????

zapcolancer did a how to on it awhile back. basically just preheat your oven to 325 degrees, then throw in your headlamp without ANY bulbs or screws in it. then let it sit for 10 mins to 15 mins. keep checking it though. then pry apart the clear lenses from the black housing. when thats done take apart the chrome piece then paint it , let it dry and reverse the process.

it's totally worth it, if you don't mess up while doin it..the reason to put it in the oven is too heat up the silicone so you pry it apart easier.. and you don't paint the lens, you paint the interior piece inside the lens..you can't just paint the headlight..

You can't just paint it because the part that you actually want to paint is inside the housing and the only way to loosen up the housing is by getting the gooey substance to a warm enough temperature that you can you just pull the headlight pieces apart. It's actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it. I used digdat's how-to and it worked out great for me.
